In the summer of 2003, while working on the set of the cult film It’s All Gone Pete Tong, I began a parallel project documenting Ibiza’s party scene.
The island was in transition—shifting from the underground free-party spirit of the 90s toward the commercial superclub era. These street portraits and club shots captured at venues like DC10 and Pacha serve as a record of that era, taken while working alongside the production team and DJs like Carl Cox and Pete Tong.
I spent that summer going driving around the island with the wonderful and fun casting/extras director, Kate. I was using my first digital camera—a Nikon D100.
A lot of the shots were just taken with the camera’s little pop-up flash. It was the easiest way to work while moving through the crowds at places like DC10 and Pacha. These photos are just a straightforward record of what the island looked like that year, captured while we were working on the film.
